Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors (Top-Up Training)

Course Content:

Who Is This Qualification For?
This qualification is specifically designed for existing door supervisors who obtained their SIA Door Supervisor licence before June 2010, or who completed a qualification that did not include the Physical Intervention Skills module. These individuals must now complete the Top-Up Training in order to renew their SIA licence in line with current industry standards.

Since June 2010, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) has mandated updated qualifications that include key new areas such as Physical Intervention Skills and terror threat awareness, ensuring door supervisors are equipped to handle today’s security challenges.

If your original training predates June 2010, or did not include physical intervention, this qualification is a legal requirement to maintain your licence to operate.

Important:
To enrol, you must hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate dated within the last 12 months. If you don’t have this, we can offer the EFAW course as an add-on.

Course Content Overview
This two-day refresher course will ensure you're up to date with the latest safety and operational practices in the security sector. Key areas include:

Principles of Terror Threat Awareness

Use of Reasonable Force and Conflict Management

Physical Intervention Skills (including updated safer restraint techniques)

Current Legislation and Best Practices

Assessment Method
The qualification is assessed through:

A multiple-choice examination that tests your theoretical understanding of core topics.

Practical observation assessments to demonstrate competency in physical intervention techniques and emergency procedures.

All assessments are conducted under exam conditions and aligned with SIA regulatory requirements.

Course Duration
2 Days (including training, practical assessment, and written exam)

Training typically runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on both days.
